Sea Ranch Wedding on Film
A love letter to Sea Ranch
I can’t quite put my finger on when I first became absorbed into the tiny universe Jordan was building, but I do know it started years ago, watching her design project, Seven Lakes Inn, unfold from afar. Somewhere along the way, we formed one of those tender online kinships that remind you social media can still feel like a doorway to authentic connection.
So when Jordan slid into my DMs asking if I’d be available to fly to Northern California the following October to photograph her and Andrew’s intimate wedding at Sea Ranch Chapel, I was over the moon. it felt like our creative worlds were finally colliding most intentionally.
I’d traveled to San Francisco and Marin County before, but this was my first time heading this far north along Highway 1. Mile by mile, climbing up the coast, I immediately understand why Sea Ranch, California has such a pull. The roadside calla lilies. The sweeping cliffs. Salt-battered trees leaning into the wind. The way the landscape and the architecture start speaking the same language the closer you get — design and nature merging into one.
It was love at first sight for me. And I could feel it in my bones why Jordan + Andrew chose to gather their families here by the sea, and why a small ceremony at Sea Ranch Chapel felt like the most intentional way to begin their next chapter. There were ten of us total — just immediate family, the ocean air, and a kind of reverence that comes from a day rooted in intentionality.
Read on for more from Jordan + Andrew’s Sea Ranch wedding, documented on 35mm and medium format film.
The Ceremony at Sea Ranch Chapel
There is a particular kind of peace surrounding Sea Ranch Chapel. Tucked into the trees with a coastal meadow setting the stage, the landscape itself invites you to quiet your body and mind. For Jordan + Andrew, returning to Sea Ranch Chapel to step into the next chapter of their lives together made sense. The chapel was a container that was sacred to the story of their love and provided an intimate, calm, and present space to share.
With only immediate family gathered inside, the ceremony felt less like a production and more like an exchange. Simple words, steady hands, ocean air drifting through the day outside. Each person took a moment to share a speech, a blessing, or even a gift during their intimate ceremony. A Sea Ranch Chapel wedding has a way of stripping everything back to what matters most, and it was such an honor to witness that kind of intention up close, with a few of my favorite cameras in hand.
A Northern California coast wedding rooted in place
Sea Ranch is the kind of place that makes you understand, almost immediately, why people return to it again and again. The drive up Highway 1 feels like a slow exhale. Cliffs and coastline, wind-bent trees, and that soft, salt-washed light that makes everything look ethereal.
Jordan + Andrew didn’t choose Sea Ranch, California, for the aesthetic alone (though as two creatives, their draw to this place is clear). They chose it because it already held meaning. After all, it’s part of their relationship, their rhythm, their personal history. Their wedding day felt like a love letter to that truth: when you get married somewhere that already holds your story, everything becomes more grounded and part of you.
For couples who love art, design, and intentionality
What I loved most about Jordan + Andrew’s wedding day is that their choices came from values, not outside noise. They cared about how the day would feel, about creating a meaningful experience for their families, about simplicity, and about beauty that is thoughtful rather than performative.
Sea Ranch is a dream for couples who love art and design because it doesn’t ask you to decorate it into something else. The landscape and architecture already speak in a quiet, confident voice. And when a wedding is built around that kind of clarity: fewer distractions, more presence; the photographs tend to carry on that feeling too.
Let’s make something tender together in your favorite place.
